It depends on your studio. If you are being trained with a Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, then you will most certainly have to take exams in order to further yourself. Don't worry the exams are basically what you do in class.

I would say a lot of studios don't test their students.

You should probably sign up for a teen/adult beginner ballet class. Don't worry it'll be challenging and fun. Just don't give up.

Good Luck

in my studio they don't have exams for dance...but it all depends on your studio. That would probably put you in a group with older kids...since you did you private lessons. I recommend doing some more private lessons to help catch up with the people in your age group. But don't get discouraged! if they put you in a class with kids a little younger than you...just keep trying, and your teacher will probably move you up to a higher class. You can also talk to your teacher. He/She will understand that you want to be with kids your age...and might move you up. Good luck! :)
i would assume they would have a beginning adult/teen level. They do in my studio and that's where they would put you.
what kind of exams but anyway if you are good they should put you in your dance level not your age level bcuz iyt doeznt matter how old you are it only depends on how good you dance!
It depends on the form that you were doing and that you are looking at taking, such as Cecchetti, Russian, or something else. If you started in Cecchetti and are going back into Cecchetti (what I did for six years), then they will probably honor your prior achievement of grade two, so you would not have to retake those exams.

If you are going into another form, then probably you won't have to take exams, as not many other major forms require you to take exams to move up in rank. If you started in Cecchetti grade two and are now going into another form, then you should be pretty good already, as Cecchetti is one of the most physically and mentally demanding forms, and would be put into a higher class.

It depends on how good you are as to whether you get put into the younger childrens' classes at first or not. Since you've already had some ballet, which seems to be quite structured and good (thus the exams), I would say that you would not be put in with the younger children, and if you are, it's only to refresh your memory for a short while. Then you will probably be put into a class with either people your own age or slightly older than you.

I came into ballet late too, I was in three classes at one time, one younger, one my age, and one older, so I could catch up.

Happy dancing!
