Ballet for beginners ?

How difficult is it to do ballet for an 18 year old male who has no previous dancing experience?

I have heard that most male dancers actually start dancing in college, while most girls are usually children when they start. You are at a great age to start. There is a shortage of male dancers so please go for it!

they say that males catch on fast than females and if u put ur all into and are willing to fight any pain or stereotypes you'll do just fine
If you put your heart into it, you will be fine. Just shop around and find a good beginners class.
find a good studio and that will be the best advantage. it's never to late to dance, never ever. make sure your ready for physical trials because i have had my fair share of those myself. but if your dedicated and serious about dance you should catch on. remember that all dancers no matter how talented are challenged by ballet so never give up...that is why so many people love ballet!!! I'm sure you will do fine...here's some advice, find a dancer who inspires you and watch every video, read every article, and watch every move this dancer makes. i wish you the best of luck, have fun!!!
most guys catch on faster, but it also depends on other things. u need to have some natural talent already. start out at a good studio and take as many classes as possible. stretch at home as well. remember, sabra won so you think you can dance after only 4 years of dance!!
I'm just glad you're asking this! there never do seem to be a lot of male dancers, especially ballet. I think you'll do fine. try to find an adult beginner class you'll be better off
it's gonna be difficult but it's difficult for anyone. ballet is not an easy thing to do
It will not be "easy". How well you do will be a function of your talent, quality of training, and your determination. Fortunately, due to the fact that there are not many of them, male dancers are given a lot more attention and encouragement. It would probably be best if you found a studio that had a specific mens' class taught by a retired male dance. Hang in there - I don't know if you are thinking about being a professional, but I do know of one dancer that started at 19 and made to the pros in 3 years. Of course he was as natural a danseur as I've ever seen - Good Luck
