i took ballet for 13 years. i stopped about 3/4 years ago. i'd like to do some of the work from those classes at home. the only problem is that i can't remember much of it. i remember plies and rond de jambes and developes. i know that most centre work consists of pirouettes and splits and whatnot. so if i could just get a little help from all you dancers out there, thanks!

Why not get a ballet work out video and use that to do your workouts at home. Here is a link to a couple of good ones:

You can also go to the ABT website and browse through their on-line dictionary. It gives you a definition of the terms and most of the time gives you a picture or video clip of the step. It's a great reference:

Here are some barre exercises:

Some center work:

I hope that helps you out!

Get yourself some books and DVD's. Why did you quit? Keep working on your turns! Stay flexible.
It might be kind of hard to explain every move but I can list a few steps. Please excuse the bad spelling, i'll just spell it how it sounds: degashae, frappe, grand batman, posse, coupe, atitude, those are some barre work steps.
Here are some centre work jumps and turns. Hopefully just hearing them will refresh your memory!
sote', glissade, sezo, sutinue, sue sue, picae turns, changemant, a'shapae, jete'.
I hope this helps! Good luck!
